Steve Rogers was just a frail guy from New York until he joined the Army and was given the Super-Soldier Serum that transformed him into Captain America. Physically augmented by the serum and equipped with an indestructible shield, Captain America aided the Allies in WWII against the Red Skull and the Axis powers.

Since his comic debut in the 1940s, Captain America has appeared in thousands of stories and is considered an icon of American pop culture. He is also the very first Marvel character to appear in a medium outside of comic books.
