"Maximum Carnage" is a 14-part comicbook story arc from 1993 featuring Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage. In the series, Carnage and his love Shriek escape from prison and recruit a gang of villains to wreck havoc throughout New York City. As the damage escalates, heroes including Captain America, Black Cat, Cloak and Dagger, Firestar, Morbius, and Iron Fist, join Spider-Man to stop Carnage's onslaught.

The Maximum Carnage series explores how the heroes become torn between stopping Carnage at all costs and using the non-violent methods Spider-Man advocates for. It was written by Tom DeFalco, J.M. DeMatteis, Terry Kavanagh, and David Michelinie.
